Voice & Text Director, Julius Caesar
Karen has coached more than 80 theatrical productions in the U.S. Regional: Huntington Theatre (Milk Like Sugar), American Repertory Theatre (Cabaret; La Dispute - with SITI Company), Actor’s Shakespeare Project (The Duchess of Malfi, Coriolanus, Medea, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Merry Wives of Windsor, Henry VIII, and Henry VI Part 2), and Williamstown Theatre Festival (The Sugar Syndrome). As an actor, she was most recently seen at the American Shakespeare Center (Anne Page Hates Fun), Cadence Theatre Company (The Wolves), and heard in Stephen Vitiello’s installation whether there was a bell or whether i knocked at Richmond, Virginia’s Institute of Contemporary Art. Karen is an Associate Professor and Head of Voice and Speech at Virginia Commonwealth University, and has taught and led workshops on voice, speech, and classical text in Austria, Canada, Italy, Norway, Russia, Singapore, and Turkey. She is a current US Fulbright Specialist, Reviews Editor for the Voice and Speech Review, and an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework. Co-author of Building Embodiment: Integrating Acting, Voice, and Movement to Illuminate Poetic Text.
