Spike and Ensemble in Hairspray
Luke is thrilled to be performing in his first OSF production! He loves dancing, singing, performing, Taylor Swift, all of his favorite OSF actors, actresses and directors, and his big sister Julia who first introduced him to OSF, when she was a Youth Performer. Luke is an 8th grader at Ashland Middle School where he is being educated in The Inclusion Model of the general education setting. His favorite subject is math. Like his fellow differently-abled teen castmates in Hairspray, Luke has participated in Ashland's Project Up, a performing arts education program for individuals who experience special needs to enable access to the theatre by partnering participants with peer mentors. Luke was born with cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder that affects his body movement and muscle tone, and dysarthria, a speech disability. Through the implementation of assistive technology, Luke is able to augment his communication and socialization skills. Luke is an intelligent, curious and compassionate lifelong learner. He welcomes your open heart and mind to this unique production of Hairspray.
